Cosmelan® is a depigmenting method that has an intensive corrective action on skin hyperpigmentations while simultaneously regulating the overproduction of melanin in the melanocytes, inhibiting and controlling the appearance of new dark spots. It has a dual corrective and controlling action, achieving short- and long-term results by keeping hyperpigmentation under control.Cosmelan peel treats:
- Melasma (uneven and irregular with undefined edges. Frequently symmetrical. Shadow-like appearance.)
- Postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) (Irregular, flat, asymmetric spots of dark pigmentation, either localized or dispersed.)
- Solar and senile lentigo (spots that are oval or round, lentil-shaped and even, measuring 2-20 millimeters.)
- Ephelides (freckles) (Small, flat, pigmented spots. Multiple and symmetrical. Light brown.)
Active Ingredients: azelaic acid, kojic acid, arbutin, phytic acid and ascorbic acid which act on all stages of the hyperpigmentation process to not only lift and eliminate existing pigment, but also regulate the overproduction of melanin by inhibiting tyrosinase (an enzyme in the melanin formation process) activation within the melanosome. Long term results are achieved by inhibiting and controlling the reappearance of dark spots and the development of new spots.
How does it work?
Cosmelan® is a unique combination of active ingredients of proven efficacy that acts on the entire process of spot formation to remove the accumulation of melanin and inhibit the formation of new spots.
Cosmelan® mechanisms includes of two actions: corrective action and regulatory action.
Corrective action of cosmelan is acceleration of epidermis renewal in order to remove melanin accumulation and decreasing the intensity of the spot.
Regulatory action includes block of melanin transfer from the melanocyte to the keratinocyte, avoiding migration of the pigment to the uppermost layers. Also, reduction in melanin synthesis inside melanocytes.
This dual corrective and regulating action makes it a unique, all-round treatment.
